Within the framework of the URBACT project,#BiodiverCityimplemented byMunicipality of Poljčane, we are preparing expert guidelines to support bees and other pollinators, with an emphasis on innovative, simple and ecosystem-relevant arrangements that each of us can use in everyday life.
The solutions presented will be designed in such a way that they are adaptable to the different living environments – from urban and peri-urban areas to rural areas – and accessible to all residents, regardless of available space or prior knowledge. In the week before Christmas we will gradually inform you about concrete opportunities and simple measures that can help each individual to maintain these extremely important organisms and thus to stability of ecosystems and the quality of our living environment. Flowering Poljčanes — Together for pollinators and a Better Living Environment
It is not just a place where we live – it is a place of nature, community and future. That's why you can do it.Every resident Polish, whether living in a house or building, it contributes to making our environment more alive, healthy and friendly —with small but very important actions.
pollinators such as bees, bumble bees, butterflies and other insects are key to food production, biodiversity conservation and healthy ecosystems. Without them we would not have fruit, vegetables, grass flowers — not even the colorful landscape we love. Unfortunately, due to the intense mowing, the lack of flowers and the orderly but “empty” greens, they are increasingly scarce.
The good news is that we can all help — right here in Polish.
What can we do?
We plant flowers– in gardens, window shelves, balconies, flowerbeds or by blocks.Let the grass bloom– the lawn can also be a flowering meadow if we don’t mow it too often.Lunch less oftenFor a few weeks without mowing, food means food for many pollinators.Plant shrubs and honey plants— even a small bush near the building can be a valuable source of food and shelter.Accept a little “unsettled”– Nature is not always perfectly cut, but it is the most alive.
These are not large financial investments or complex projects. TheView Change: that green surfaces are not just decoration, buthabitat. Flowering greens around blocks, schools, kindergartens and houses can be created togetherA network of food for pollinators throughout the Polish.
This helps not only insects but also ourselves: more flowers mean enthusiasm, better air, more pleasant places to socialize and a better living environment for all generations.
Polishes can become an example of the place where everyone contributes their own piece – balcony, green, shaft or simply deciding to cut a little less. The small steps of many people make a big difference.
